Location is everything, it's so central that everywhere is walkable, Akan Village is about 10min walk, opposite of the hotel rows of souvenir shops selling varieties of Akan carvings and artifacts and convenience stores. The hotel seems to be the largest in Akanko region, with 2 big buildings - main building and the Tsuruga Wings with a combined total of 6 to 7 large communal baths and spa. The hotel itself is like a big mall and self contained, one can easily spend whole day within the premise. It also provides shuttle bus for guests to its offside parking lots and Kamuy LUMINA. Room is big and very clean a big contrast to the very small bath room that has the bathtub, toilet and sink all in 1 cubicle. he TV set is abit dated and only 1 English channel. Breakfast and dinner are served in buffet style with Japanese, Chinese and Western cuisine and drinks and desserts. Food is delicious and seats are plenty. The onsens and spa are fantastic, if you have time, you can even onsn-hop from &),nl is that the boarding area for cruise ship embark/disemb

As a hotel, Akan Yuku no Sato Tsuruga is impressive. We were only there for a night to experience staying in a ryokan. Though not typical of a traditional Japanese ryokan inn, the large roomy bed rooms did conform. I must add that the beds were made up for us in the ryokan style after we returned from dinner, and were very comfortable. We did not experience the Onsen facilities which would have helped, but suitable attire was provided in the bedrooms. We were most taken by the exceptionally good dinner and breakfast buffets; which in itself would justify the money spent. The spacious hotel interior design and exhibition gallery were outstanding. Though we did not have a view of the lake from our room, the surrounding mountains with ski slopes and a view of the town made up for it. The Ainu Village was a disappointment being mainly shops and a few eating places, but the Kushiro Crane Reserve on the way to Akan Lake with their breeding program was much more rewarding.

An onsen hotel with a lot of facilities that can be enjoyed by all ages. Our room was comfortable and hotel is located near next to the lake and surrounding attractions. Service from staff is also very excellent. I would like to especially thank the foreign staff at the hotel for offering such good service when checking in/out and also guiding at the buffets. I can see that they have received very good training from management. Front desk staff were also excellent. There was always staff around the hotel happy to assist and greet at any time. It is our first time staying with Tsuruga group of hotels and won’t be our last.

The baths are absolutely incredible and would make a trip to this area worth it on their own. Do try the different baths are they are different and unique, with a wide variety of bassins and showers, along with stunning views of the lake. The buffets, both dinner and breakfast, are an absolute feast. I heavily recommend booking both. They have a huge variety of food (Japanese, Chinese, Western) and the quality is also very high. The hotel facilities themselves are huge and impressive. You will find a variety of shops inside the hotel itself. In general, all shared facilities are top-tier.

- The public outdoor onsen is exceptional and a must go! They switch the baths for women and men at regular timings each day so i highly recommend going to both if you have the time. - The buffet dinner and breakfast included in our stay had such an amazing spread, definitely worth the price - Just next to Lake Akan, very nice views and you can just walk there from the hotel to do all kinds of winter activities like ice fishing, snow mobile rides etc. - There is a cute shopping street just across the entrance where you can pick up some snacks and souvenirs.
